The Beginning of the Road
Our founder began his plan to form the right team for a future organization while he still sponsored kids in Rwanda, Somalia, and Sudan. In this same year, he developed blueprint of the organization, and filed for the nonprofit status. The website was also developed and released
Our First Accompishments
1) Team of Volunteered Staff members signed on to Mr. Jallah’s ideas and vision
2) YesLiberia granted 501c3 License from the US Federal Government; the work began in Liberia
3) Several fundraising events hosted in the USA; first 66 kids sponsored on our program in Liberia
4) Our founder given the “Young Community Leader” Award at the Liberian Image Awards in MD.
Improvements and Expansion
1) YesLiberia supplied over 500 students with school supplies at various schools in Liberia
2) The entire staff underwent a management training workshop in MD
3) Branch established in Rhode Island; collaborated with student organizations at 6 universities
4) Our founder awarded the 2010 “Community Crusader” Award in NC.
Glimpse of Hope Noticed
1) Secured office space in and established regular meeting policies
2) Spoke at the Black Engineers’ “Re-engineering the World” program at CNN in NY
3) Approved by University of Delaware Career Services as an nonprofit internship partner
4) Joined several professional organizations; attracted volunteers across the globe
5) Sponsored 120 students on our scholarship program in Liberia
Focusing on the Big Picture
Partnered with Penn State African Student Association and others; joined Google Donation Program, Updated website, attracting more supporters, seeking board members, expanding projects in Liberia to reach more communities and students; planning upcoming fundraisers’ events, establishing health clubs at schools in Liberia, planing shipment to Liberia; etc…
