Tuition Assistance


We are anxious to raise people up from abject poverty, but we also understand we need to thoroughly engage and perfect the system under which we are to operate. While it is true we want to make an impact, the fact remains without your support we cannot. The Tuition Assistance Program (TAP), seeks to combat illiteracy in Liberia by financially assisting elementary students in need to remain in school and to encourage junior high and high school students to excel in academics and community involvement. Financial assistance to students will be given using established criteria of both "Youth Elementary Services" and "Youth Elevated Services" of YesLiberia, Inc.

General Criteria for Enrollment
Prior to acceptance into TAP, students are to meet certain basic qualifications before being considered as a YesLiberian Scholar. These include, but are not limited to:
1. Citizenry: Must be citizens of the Republic of Liberia
2. Moral Civility: Must exhibit good morals within their respective communities/schools and cannot be an immediate relative of any of YesLiberia Staff Members
3. Education:

  • Must be in a public school (from kindergarten to grade 12th)
  • Must have a passion for education and be enrolled full-time during application
  • Must be unable to pay his or her tuition due to financial constraints
  • Must be living in Liberia at the time of application


Youth Elementary Services
Seeks to randomly pay outstanding tuitions of elementary students within Montserrado County using the following criteria:

  • Students cannot be immediate relatives of a YesLiberia volunteer
  • Students must attend a public school
  • Students must be asked out of school for tuition payment or show proof of inability to pay.
  • Students must have average attendance of 80 percent for previous school year
  • No more than two children per family can receive assistance

Youth Elevated Services
seeks to sponsor students within Junior High and High school within Montserrado County using the following criteria:
    1. Acceptance

  • Average GPA of 95 percent or higher for three consecutive periods
  • Student must have attendance record of 90 percent or higher
  • Cannot be an immediate relative of any of YesLiberia Staff Members
  • Student must have actively participated in community and/or academic activitie
  • Students must submit a 250 word essay answering one of the following:
    • What is the importance of education to you and to Liberia?
    • Discuss the phrase "Education is the key to success" in reference to Liberia
    • What is education and who is responsible for educating you?

   2. Post-Acceptance
   To avoid suspension and termination from the program, after a student is accepted, he or she must maintain the following:

  • Continuously be enrolled full-time.
  • Have a cumulative GPA of B+ or higher*
  • Maintain said GPA every semester**
  • Have almost perfect attendance.
  • Should be able to promote the YesLiberia vision by engaging in community services.These services should be done wearing items that portrays the YesLiberia seal. They include, but are not limited to:
    • Cleaning the environment
    • Assisting the elderly
    • Tutoring their peers
