School Supplies
Imagine a kid who was only 10 years old when the civil war began in Liberia. Now imagine that same kid as an adult at age 24 (14yrs after the civil war ended). Now, assuming no access to school during the war, can you predict his/her reading level or grade level? Do you think a 24yrs old adult would sit in class to learn how to read? We believe anyone that fits this status would not feel comfortable sitting in class with children of their kids ages to be taught how to read. Hence, YesLiberia book donations and school supplies project seeks to target this problem amongst adults and disadvantaged kids.
Additionally, in an effort to increase literacy and a love of reading with young children and adults in Liberia, YesLiberia focuses on providing supplies to those in need of our support. Our goal is to provide books and school supplies for over 50% of students or non-students in Liberian public schools. These supplies will collected through one of the following activities:
- Collecting books from libraries
- Having book drops at universities
- Accepting donation from individuals, libraries, schools, churches, and corporations.
